HANNA GARTH

SPEAKING ENGAGMENTS

I speak on issues at the intersection of food justice, structural inequality, race, and survival—grounded in over a decade of ethnographic research in Cuba, Los Angeles, and across the U.S. South. My talks are rooted in feminist and decolonial frameworks and are shaped by a commitment to community accountability and cultural clarity.
Topics I regularly speak on include:
  • Food justice, food apartheid, and the limits of the current movement
  • Race, embodiment, and the politics of nourishment
  • Feminist, ethical, and decolonial research methodologies
  • Post-socialist Cuba and the politics of everyday life
  • Building more accountable social justice movements

I’ve shared my work with:
  • University departments in anthropology, Black studies, Latinx studies, public health, and gender studies
  • Grassroots food justice organizations and mutual aid networks
  • High school and college students exploring activism or cultural studies
  • Foundations and funders committed to racial and health equity
  • Podcasts, book events, and public panels focused on food, identity, and justice
If you're interested in inviting me to speak, teach, or collaborate, I welcome your outreach
